“Be there, will be wild,” Trump tweeted on December 19 in reference to the protest planned for January 6 at the Capitol. Minutes before the mob stormed the Capitol, Trump told them, “Everyone will soon be marching from here to the Capitol Building.”
“We’re coming for you,” shouted Donald Trump Jr. to the mob minutes before they sacked the Capitol. “So let’s have a trial by combat!” shouted Rudy Giuliani to the mob minutes before they sacked the Capitol.
The mob erected a gallows and noose outside. They carried flags that said “Trump Is My President.” They carried Confederate Battle Flags. They carried signs that said, “Jesus Is My Savior. Trump Is My President.” Men in camo wore “Armor Of God” patches on the shoulders of their uniforms.
The mob chanted, “USA.” The mob chanted, “The Steal Is Real.” The mob shouted “Traitors” at the police attempting to restrain them.
A woman in Trump regalia brandished a combat knife on the Capitol steps. A member of the mob told the police “We’re not here to be violent.” One mob sign read, “Off With Their Heads. The Steal Is Real.” A member of the mob wore a Camp Auschwitz sweatshirt.
At 2:15 PM the mob breached the building.
They attacked police officers abandoned by their superiors.
Some of the mob carried lead pipes, handguns, bundles of zip ties for restraining captives.
Once inside the Rotunda and among the offices, the mob smoked doobies, smeared their shit on walls and floors and hunted Speaker Pelosi, Pence, Senator Schumer.
Once inside the Rotunda, the mob took selfies.
They left pipe bombs.
“Hang Mike Pence” the mob chanted at the gates to the Senate.
The mob beat a police officer to death with a fire extinguisher. They beat him with American flags.
The DC National Guard was activated at 3:00 PM.
In a January 7 video Trump said, “Our incredible journey is only just beginning.”
While the mob still roamed the Capitol grounds, Trump said, “We love you.”
