Trump has allowed Elon Musk to send computer engineers into Federal Agencies, illegally of course, and systematically rewrite code and even shut them down. In light of these continuing actions, I sent out this email this morning to family and friends:
A disturbing but timely suggestion from the leader of the Northern Chester County Democratic Party from our meeting last night:
In light of Elon Musk’s intrusion into and destruction of Government websites, there is no guarantee that your job history as gathered by the SS Administration will be protected. His suggestion to those still working and therefore not collecting SS, is to set up or access your account and download your work history.
If that history is erased, it will be very difficult for any individual to gather it with the proper documentation.
This is not an alarmist suggestion.
Musk has already done enormous damage to what had been well functioning Government sites.
Protect yourself, please.
We are only 16 days into Trump’s Presidency and one part of our reality has already entered Act IV, iii of Macbeth where “each new morn … new sorrows strike heaven on the face.” It is not possible to keep track of each new outrage. That is part of his strategy. “Flood the zone with shit,” as Steve Bannon once said. With the exception of AOC, most Democrats in Washington’s Democratic leadership have been feckless or worse.
Meanwhile, for those of you still working, download your work history.
Hold fast. Find a way to fight back, especially with others. Solidarity is encouragement personified. Resist despair. Remember, courage is also contagious.
